California Sculptors Symposium 2025

This year I had a great year going down to the CSS as it has been about 2-3 years since I’ve been able to make it down. We had a fantastic paper mache artist named Roberto Benavidez and of course a return instructor Jason Arkles on stone. Here are some of the amazing pictures and videos I got through the week. This was the first time I got so much work done I think I’m getting faster. My first piece here I was stuck on quite a bit and then the last two days it was like “hi I’m a bird” since I usually work abstract I was grateful to know what to now do in the short time left. This was a piece I had worked on two years earlier that had broken in a move and it always had a weird animal shape. Certainly a happy little accident.

Next I had grabbed two pieces of small stones that would fit in my suitcase I knew I wanted two pieces to be eacha half heart but had no idea how it might turn out. I grabbed a small chunk of alabaster that was a very nice bright pink orange and then a small long colum of marble which I snapped in half and chucked into my suitcase. I am so happy with the way these turned out.

Here are a few more images from the week lots of fun and can’t wait to go back hopefully in a year or so.
